The Shepherdstown Men's Club is an organization of men and women dedicated to
community service. Membership is open to all people eighteen years and older, who wish
to contribute their time and energy to maintain and operate club supported civic programs
and facilities, as well as to enjoy the club's semi-monthly dinner meetings and other
social activities.
The mission of The Shepherdstown Men's Club is to enrich the quality of individual,
family, and community life by:
• Providing a community center and a park where all ages can gather
• Promoting civic interests through various events and activities
The Shepherdstown Men's Club sponsors and supports community improvement
projects, public service activities and recreational programs throughout the year. At our
regular membership meetings, we provide a forum for speakers on a variety of general
interest subjects and community matters. With six decades of community involvement,
we've hosted everything from tin can drives to used book sales.
The historic War Memorial Building, on the corner of German and King Streets in
Shepherdstown, was purchased by The Shepherdstown Men's Club in 1947, and named
in honor of our local veterans. The community makes good use of it for:
• Civic Events: organizational meetings, public hearings, town forums, and fund
raising events
• Cultural Activities: classes for art, dance, athletics, and music, performances,
and art exhibits
• Social Gatherings: private and public parties, weddings, celebrations of all kinds.
The War Memorial Building is available for rental. The first floor offers a newly
restored hall, which accommodates 100 people. The second floor includes a 120 person
grand ballroom and a commercial kitchen. There is a lift to ease access for supplies and
for people going to the second floor. Modern bathrooms are accessible to the disabled.
Morgan's Grove Park is a 25 acre public park owned by the Men's Club and operated
under lease by the Jefferson County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Park
include children playground equipment, a walking path, soccer fields, volley ball court, a
covered pavillion, barbeque grills and picnic tables. The Park is part of the Morgan's
Grove Historic District .
